Did I mention I love the snow? Thoroughly enjoyed filming Jodie & Gary's day which was made all the nicer with the wintery back drop and I was particularly impressed with the bridal party's bravery in venturing outside for photograph's. Eaves hall looked beautiful in the snow and it added to what was already a fantastic day and a great couple to work with.

Who said we didnt have a great summer? sweltering day in Hertfordshire covering Annie & Neils wedding day, and what a wedding day it was!! two ceremonies, one great location and just an incredible couple with a lovely family. It was an honour and a privelage to be able to cover their day and one I will look back on for some time with fond memories. What a lovely wedding in Whalley followed by reception at the Spread Eagle, Sawley. I always enjoy shooting local weddings and Lucy & Dan's day was no exception. Weather was superb if not a little windy but hey were not in the tropics! Lovely friendly atmoshere all day and great entertainment up into the evening. What a fantastic wedding this weekend in Carlisle, Charlotte & Luke were a pleasure to work with and had such a laugh. Also had the pleasure of working with Father & Son team Steven Taylor Photography for the first time who were outstanding.

I must confess though whilst travelling up to Carlisle and the Lovely Dalston Hall, I wondered if the weather would hold out or not. Fortunately it was great and the whole day was amazing. We screened this edit around 8pm followed by the first dance outside shortly after. Enjoy!

The weather was not kind to us in Cornwall! but Ive always thought theres beauty in everything, even a wet and windy day. Great location on the coast at the beautiful Polhawn Fort, Rick and I were truely fortunate to be there on Charlenes & Robs wedding day, and despite the british weather everyones spirits were high. It was an incredibly emotional day, and we have some great footage looking back over the rushes. A very special place with wonderful people. Wedding on the Orient Express!!

Well almost, but certainly wedding reception on the Orient Express anyway. I was so excited to be able to cover Mark & Nicols wedding day, what an experience and just totally different. From the very first moment Mark contacted me last year I knew it was going to be special, my assistant passed comment to me saying 'do you realise we may just have the best job in the world'. I think he's right. Not a highlight or teaser just some lovely shots we managed to gather after the ceremony. Enjoy.

Not a Wedding!

Heres something a bit different. During March we had the opportunity to shoot the yearly Dance show for Birmingham University. Its a great show with many performers, very colourful costumes and plenty of energy. We managed to cut together this really cool mini-documentary which shows the 'making of' the show itself. So here it is, several interviews, good music score and pretty good editing even if I do say so myself. Hope you enjoy.

Ive gotta apologise. I havent posted on here for ages and it just seems that time has flown by, I cant believe its been so long. As we gather ourselves together for the busy season ahead which sees us traveling to all ends of the UK including Kent, Cornwall, Edinburgh, Carlisle and Burnley! to name but a few. Ive posted this little teaser we put together for a lovely couple from last year, rainy September but what a wonderful day, and one of three from the same group of friends/relatives we had booked. Photographers were Nicole photography who are great to work with and the venue was the ever popular Statham Lodge. It doesnt get much better, hope you enjoy.

Budding actors/actresses wanted for concept video

During the coming months we will be adding a concept video option to our range and are looking for any budding actors or actresses to star in their own mini movie. Essentially the concept video will be a short film 5 to 7 mins long where you get to act in your own movie which will be scripted and story boarded around your hobbies or lifestyle. We are only looking for one couple, and theres no charge for producing the film other than allowing us to have full and unrestricted use of the rushes for demo or competition entry. Its also on a first come first served basis and you dont even have to book us to cover your wedding, so drop us an email before its to late.

APV Pass with distinction

After submitting one of our wedding films to the APV (Association of Professional Videographers), we recieved some welcome news this week that we had not only passed, but passed with a distinction scoring over 80%. I felt on a whole we produced something quite outstanding and this was reflected in the detailed report we recieved. Not one to rest on our laurels though we will be looking to improve on our already high standards! see above post.

I think this is probably one of our most favourite trailers so far. We have been so fortunate covering some beautiful weddings in stunning locations, yet the whole day is about the unity of two people and the love and support from their surrounding families. Its quite common for us to recieve emails or letters of thanks from couples who's wedding weve covered. I love reading them, just knowing what a difference having their wedding day filmed has made, and how its allowed them to re-live that day over and over again. Just this week out of the blue we recieved an email from a wedding we shot in August last year, here's what it said:-

Dear Steve,

I have just watched our wedding dvd and it still reduces me to tears, even now, nearly a year on! Thanks to you and your lovely wife we have the opportunity to relive those fantastic memories of our wedding day at the touch of a button. I almost wish I could have another wedding just so that you could film it! thanks again, you are brill.

Needless to say it brought a smile to my face, knowing what we'd achieved. When producing a wedding film we never intentionally set out to create a tear jerker but I think sometimes the days events just unfold and its our job to stage them in the most emotive way possible, using our combined skills to translate the emotion that was experienced on the wedding day to the viewer, be that joy, sadness, elation etc. I think we succeeded.

Fairytale Wedding

When I say fairytale I really mean fairytale! Imagine walking through Manchester city centre on Saturday and seeing a horse-drawn glass 'bubble' carriage, with an assortment of creatures from all walks of life surrounding it. It was a 'magical' wedding like no other in the beautiful Manchester Town Hall. Some fantastic costumes and entertainment, followed by a late night screening of the couples music video created from footage we shot during their joint stag and hen party. Hope to get some footage on here soon but until then here's the music video.

More than just black & white!

There are times when the standard black and white effects that everyone seems to use can get a bit boring and un-inventive. This is a short trailer which illustrates the use of other subtle effects we have at our disposal, and with footage taken from an overcast day with muted colours the use of colour correction techniques really makes the colours vibrant and creates a warm feeling you cant help but like. Thanks to Sam & Claire for allowing us to cover their day, hope you enjoy.

15th June 2007 - Graduation Clip

Something a little different. Occasionally I get asked to do something a little different than covering weddings, so I thought Id post a short film I made for a graduation party. The clip was shown during the evening on a big screen projector at Kates surprise graduation party. She had absolutley no idea this was going to be shown and all the interviews had been shot in the weeks leading up to her party. It was a pleasant surprise for her.

To Interview or not?

A colleague asked me fairly recently why I offer interviews as an option. He was of the opinion that guests dont like it and most of the material is of poor quality and he ends up not using it. I corrected him in that he was under the impression my interview option was the same as guest messages, which it isnt. We offer carefully planned interviews with family or friends on the day as an option, simply because it adds tremendously to the overall production value of the wedding DVD. They are professionally recorded and edited into the final piece, which then gives it a polished look, far better than the 'piece to camera' style guest message. What you have to bear in mind is that most people are not born presenters and thats why a skillfull interviewer will bring out some of the most amazing things from people who are essentially camera shy.

Most couples dont book this option but when they do they really are amazed by the results. I hope to have a montage of several interviews posted on here soon just to give you an idea of the sort of things we hear. So keep watching!!

Busy bank holiday week!

Had an amazing week last week and shot a total of five weddings in eight days, Phew! The venues were all around the northwest including Stanley house, Manchester town hall, the Lowry centre, Wellington park and a lovely bandstand wedding at Gibbon bridge.
